ABS Traction lights
|
I have a 1999. both lights came on and won't clear. Dealer diagnosed and the EBCM has failed. Also tells me it is no longer available and suggested I try a wrecking yard. Does anyone know a source for an ECBM new? I'd rather not gamble on a wrecking yard for an item like this.

Traction control ABS lights on
|
I have a 2003 with less than 17000 mile on it. Recently when I started the car the traction control, ABS lights came on. I took the car to Elco Chevrolet who diagnosised the problem as a wheel speed sensor. They replaced the wheel speed sensor and for $758 I was back on the road again. I drove the car 10 miles and the traction control, ABS light came on again. Now they have had the car for a week. Has any one have the same problem? Who in the St Louis area do you use for your Corvette work? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Lifting a C5
|
Hi All -- I have a 2002 C5 convertible. I also have a professional lift in my Corvette Garage, but now is the first time I need to put my C5 on the lift. Can anyone tell me where the lifting points are on the undercarriage and best options/ways to elevate my car so as to swing the lift arms underneath it? Thanks for any help, and Best Wishes for a terrific Corvette season!!! Phil

Observation to Share -- 2002 Convertible HEADLIGHTS
|
Here's an FYI -- Last season, my right headlight began acting rather lazy when popping up. Sometimes it wouldn't pop up at all. I worried I might have to replace the motor. However, before putting it away for the winter, I replaced the battery and after doing so, the headlight motor has worked perfectly. No evidence of any issue. This Spring it's totally responsive also. I've been very happy that I hadn't simply assumed the headlight motor was shot. I hope this may be useful to other owners.

Corvette Construction Standards
|
As a die-hard Corvette enthusiast having owned over a dozen, my first at age 18 I have now realized the standards have diminished. I know 2 guys (twin brothers)who bought 2005 vettes & picked them up from the factory in Bolling Green right off the line. One has had the same problem with the Active Handling but was never notified of a re-call. I told them in June 2012. I have never owned one that they didn't back up the quality until now. GM -Chevrolet has out-sourced their customer service office to Argentina & that gets you no-where! I have proven that my car was built on 4/6/2004 (convertible & only have 14,000 miles) & their recall campaign #10V-172 was for my exact problem for cars built between March 2004 & Jan 2006 but only for cars noted as yr. 2005 or 2006. The were supposed to recall 40,000. This being the only American Sports Car built & costing over $50M, I personally think this is disgraceful. If you've had a problem, they need to know! Let's stand...

I had that on my 99' where the sterring wheel locked up and was recalled. GM fixed it free and I thought that GM fixed it down in Kentucky. They should cover it. Hope for the best

Service Active Handling System
|
I have a 2004 Convertible made date 4/6/2004 with Service Active Handling System warning. Vettes produced between 3/2004 & 1/2006 with the year model of 2005 or 2006 were recalled due to the failure of part N37-tilt & telescoping steering column locking up. Mine has done this but GM sys it isn't included in the recall- anyone else had this problem in a 2004?

C5 Leaking Gas Tank(s)
|
I own a 2004 Commerative Edition convertible, which developed a serious gasoline smell during my summer road trip. After looking on various Corvette forums, including this one, I discovered that leaking gas tank(s) was a common problem with the C5. I am happy to say that GM stepped up to the plate and reimbursed me for the entire bill for replacing my gas tanks and crossover. I wanted to publicly acknolwedge GM, and also thank all those who posted in this forum and others about the issue. With your help, I knew what was going on and I knew I wasn't alone. Thanks!!

1999 convertible sport seat airbags
|
I bought this car new in 1999. The sport seat lumbar air bags have worn and will no longer hold air. The dealer cost for these plastic bags (small ones I might add) is $900.00. The only other place that I have been able to find them is Ecklers where the price is $714.00. Remember, these are small plastic bags. These prices seem unreasonably high to me. I would appreciate any information that anyone may have on replacing these parts.

2004 Corvette Emissions Problem
|
I presently am dealing with an engine check light which reads out a P0410 Secondary air injection system malfunction and a P0419 Insufficient Flow Bank 1 problem--all for the second time since the dealership claimed they fixed it for $550.00. I approached GM with this problem and was told I don't drive the Vette enough-18,600mi. I thought I heard almost all excuses in my life, but not driving it enough ended my confidence level with GM. I was also told by the dealership that this happens quite often with Corvette Emissions systems. I really think there should be a recall, because of a design problem with their emissions. I've filed a complaint for a recall with the NHTSA to look into this matter. If anyone else needs to reach them with the same situation call: 888-327-4236. I'd like to hear some feed back from you all. Many thanks. F.Johnston

All 4 Tire Sensors Failed at Same Time & Won't Reset
|
We put new tires on our 2004 Convertible and shortly thereafter all 4 tire sensors quit working. Now we constatly get notice of failure in information center. Have used a strong magnet on other C5's to reset the sensors but several attempts have failed for this car.
Everything else works, both key fobs work and we are stumped. The tires are OEM replacements. Any suggestions?????

Extended Warranty
|
I own a 2004 coupe with 46,889 miles on the odomoter- when I purchased my Vette in May of 2007 it had 36,240 miles on it and I elected to extend the coverage for an additional 24,000 or 24 mos. Currently my extended perior has expired and I would like to get the Major Guard Coverage or simular to continue coverage.
Can anyone suggest who to contact reguarding my situation?
Also, I have contacted various other agency's and they offer coverage, but there are restrictions- such as a 30 day waiting period and 1,000 miles, or a gas rebate of$500 with a 60 day waiting period and payback of $25 increments with $100 dollars proof of purchase-(come-on's).
Hopefully someone has experienced this situation and can help- Thanks

C5 Winter driving temps
|
What kind of coolant temps are you seeing in the winter with your C5 and a stock thermostat?
I seldom drive my C5 in the winter but drove it last eve in 30 degree weather. I noticed temps running about 198-200 on the highway at 60 mph. Didn't drive it more than 5 miles; then off of the highway, saw similar temps. Normal??
Does this seem about normal? I know in the summer when running on the highway with the air on for extended periods of time I generally see 196 to 199 so I am guessing what I am seeing in the winter is normal.
Let it idle and the fans are coming on normally. Just had a new water pump put on and "burped" the system so I don't suspect anything there.
For some reason I figured that in cooler weather I would see cooler temps but logic tells me that the engine is going to warm up anyway. . .
Thanks,

C-5 Clutch
|
I have a 2001 C-5 with about 75000 mi. and I will have to replace the clutch fairly soon. The motor is slightly modified and it is guessed to be about 425 hp. Is the ZO6 clutch a direct fi ? I don't want to get into competition parts to retain street-ability. Any fly-wheel re-surfacing will result in "shimming" and potential balance problems. I would rather up-grade to the Z06 clutch if possible.

Minor body scrathes
|
I have a 2001 Vette bought in mid april. just noticed quite a few gouges and scratches under passenger door section that is the panel connected at the front rear wheel below the door and attaches froward to the front fenser below the door. Is this section removable just in case the gouges and scratches would be just as expensive to fix. Has anyone had a similar problem. thanks.

Airbag disable?
|
I have a '94--first year with pass. side airbag, and can't be disabled, so need to consider trading up in order to have my young grandson ride with me. My question is, do C5s have the capability to disable their passenger side airbags, and if so what year did that feature begin?

Loose Mirror Glass on 2003
|
The drivers side mirror glass in the housing seems very loose. Every time the door is closed, the mirror drops down. (The problem also exists on the passenger side but to a lesser extent). The housing itself is tight and secure to the body.
Is there any on vehicle adjustment to tighten the mirror glass available? If so how to?
