Updated headlight harness
|
My headlights fail to open when the engine is running, only when it's not running. I need to find a new updated headlight harness. The part numbers that will work are 12163322 and 12163775. If anyone can help me find one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Keith

Two issues - differential and radio
|
First - my 2002 std. automatic has a Differential whine. It is the ring gear but the cost to replace the ring and pinion ($350) isn't the problem, it's the labor to break it down and reassemble it - several hours. Anyone know where I can find a good complete unit with a 3.42 ratio. To buy one from Ecker's it's $1,500 and I'd still have to have it put in.
Second - I'm going to have to replace my stock radio which has a CD player. Every time I insert a CD, it is kicked back and it says ERR. I was told that I should replace it. Got any suggestions where I can get a good radio (doesn't have to be OEM).
I live in Atlanta and a member of Corvette Atlanta club.

C5 Tires

I recently replaced the tires on my C4 and went to Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport High Performance tires. I'm very happy with the handling of them and they are much quieter than the previous tires that were on my car.

After 23,000 miles it is time to replace my tires. What tires are recommended that will be quieter than the stock tires and still be good enough to be on my vette?

You should be using Top-tier gas only

toptiergas.com is a list of retailers that meet GM's detergency specs for gasoline. I've used nothing but Shell V-Power in my 2003 Convertible with 145,000 miles on it and have never had a fuel-related problem. According to a Wall-Street Journal article a couple of years ago, Shell's additives are far superior to other gasoline retailers.

Remote Door Lock Doesn't Hold Programming-2000 C5 Convertible

The remote key entry (RKE) became erratic and finally failed to unlock the doors. I installed a new battery in the key fob and reset the system following the directions in the owner?s manual. The RKE system worked for a few days and then failed again. I replaced both RKE fobs through the Chevrolet dealer and had the system reprogrammed. After a few days, the RKE became erratic and failed. Back at the dealer and referring to a GM service document, the service tech says that that my cell phone or 12 volt cell phone cord could be causing the problem by interfering with the radio frequency (GM Bulletin #PIT4105, 08/2006). Sure enough, the cell phone transmits a signal that the J43241 Fob Tester detected. Since there are lots of C5s out there and lots of cell phones, is anyone else experiencing erratic performance from the C5 RKE?

My 1998 Convertible Tailights and Dash lights won't go on right away. They decide to go on when they want to,usually after turning them on and off a few times they will work or they will go on after driving a few miles?

2004 Vette Emissions Problem

My Vette has 18,600 miles and the engine check light keeps appearing with a (P0410-secondary air injection system malfunction problem*).I took it over to Koons Chevy),the repair was about $550.00, and asked them with a Vette with that low mileage if GM covered the problem, and the reply was NO. I've had the car back a week and the engine light went to again. NOW,the emissions says it's two problems. It's a (P0410-secondary air injection malfunction(as before the repair),and a P0491* added-Insufficient flow bank 1).
I'd think with a Vette with that low milage, garaged, maintained, it's looks like a GM design problem. What do you think. Many thanks.

Need possible transmission work
|
I have a 2001 C5. Took car in to dealer for service because of noise that sounded like something loose under the car and "something dragging" type sound coming from the rear of the car. They replaced the rear end. Got car back, it was making the same noise and a few days later started to pop out of reverse. Any recommendations for a knowledgable and reliable service center for possible transmission/linkage diagnosis and service in Gainesville, FL area. Travel takes me to Atlanta area frequently, so will consider the Atlanta area for repair also.

z06 full of water

i have 2004 z06 that leaks water on the driver side of the dash board when it rains,i have put silicon on all the weatherstriping and put silicon around the windshield but i still see where water is leaking on that side, anyone else have these problems,and does anyone have a soultion?

Turning off the passenger air bag

Does anyone know of a way to shut off the passenger air bag on a 1999 corvette convertable? If so is there a kit to be purchased and installed. I talked to the dealer and they would not do it or tell me how.

Low Beams Out

I have 2001 C5 The low beams went out on the way to work then came back on for a few minutes. They went out again and have not come back on. Brights are fine as are driving lights. Any suggestions?

Fuel Gauge goes to empty in a C5
|
Has anyone run into this problem? If I fill the car pass 3/4 mark or full I get a service soon light and check gauges and the needle goes to empty and also a low fuel message . Once the tank is below 3/4 everything goes back to normal . The car runs fine even though the gauge reads empty
