aging plastic bottle I wish to make my new windshield washer bottle appear as the filler neck and coolant overflow tank do. I have replaced the leaking bottle with a new in my original 1975 convertible and want to make it appear older. Any ideas? crznvette 4/13/2019 12:56:05 PM2
Matching numbers question? I'm looking at a 1970 convertible that is supposed to be a matching numbers car. But it appears to me that the 1st number on the block VIN ledge is a "7" not a "1" as you would expect for a Chevy engine. I have looked at it several times and no matter how I look at it, it still is a "7"! The block casting number is the correct one but the casting date and the engine build date appear to be rather close as follows: Engine code = V0706CTJ (Build date July 6th 1970?) block casting date = G 3 0 (Block casting date July 3rd 1970?) I'm not an expert on these issues, but it appears to me the VIN stamp on the block is "70S 415XXX" X = equal numbers I excluded on purpose. Can anyone help me sort this out, the block numbers look almost to prefect and I'm concerned they have been re stamped and its not a real matching numbers car! I could use some help and guidance on this subject! MACM 9/1/2017 9:51:57 PM2
VIN/options history reports? There use to be a company or two that you could pay to research your VIN and tell you what the factory options were on your car, who bought it and who the dealer was that sold it originally. But I just must not be asking the right questions on Google to find them! Can anyone give me some guidance on this type of service. MACM 8/6/2017 9:34:36 PM0
Hood lift help I am 74 years old, and I have owned 8 corvettes. After my recent back surgery I cannot lift the hood on my '78 Silver Anniversary. I have lost most of my upper body strength. Can ANYBODY help me find a way to raise the hood? Thank you. sgt.silver 5/12/2016 6:15:44 AM4
Hood Insulation I was wondering if anyone has used the new "replacement" hood insulators and whether you are satisfied with a certain brand sold by one of the Corvette parts outlets? The one I'm particularly interested in is for the 73-75 Corvettes with cowl induction. Because these are not molded like the originals, the ones I have seen seem to sag and not fit as well as the GM originals. I know they are a cheap replacement, but why not make an accurate reproduction even if it costs twice as much? Do they think that C3 owners/collectors are any less proud of their cars than the C1 and C2 guys? If these would have been made for earlier models, they would have been reproduced correctly, I'm sure. Anyway, just wondering if any one of these "replacements" are better than others. Comments? Original decals in door jams & doors All, my car was repainted in 2005 its original War Bonnet Yellow however in the preparation for this painting I feel they probably removed the original if any decals that were on the door or door jam. Does anybody have a picture of the decals and where they need to be placed exactly in these area? If so pls email me at Lawrence.mclin@yahoo.com with the photos. Thanks very much in advance. Adjust Hydraulic Lifter on With Solid Cam Anybody know the procedure to adjust hydraulic lifter using a solid lifter cam on my LT-1? Don't say it's impossible as my car has been running that way for over thirty years! I believe the Chev dealer installed the hydraulics sometime back in 1976 or 1977. 1969 Vented Gas Cap My 1969 350/350 coupe recently started developing gas tank pressure problems, even though it has a 'vented' gas cap. After about 20 minutes of operation, the gas cap pops off when opened, with obvious internal pressure inside the tank. I tried three different vented caps, and all with the same results. This pressure also explained the gasoline smell coming from the engine, with apparently enough pressure building up to push some gasoline through the needle valves when the car was shut-off. Any suggests on what I should look for? TonyC 5/23/2012 1:29:34 PM9
Window Motor Removal Does anyone know how to remove the right side electric window motor on a 1970 model when the window is stuck in the down position?? There must be a trick to it?? HELP........ Andy Bedoian 4/5/2012 11:13:18 PM1
1978 electrical problems My 1978 L82 four speed has an electrical problem. the turn signals work fine until I turn of tne running lights or headlights, then they stop blinking. Also, I cannot get the high beams to work and I do not hear the switch clicking when I pull back on the turn signal lever. the head lights do come up and come on fine. I have ordered a new turn signal switch. Any other thoughts? Harry Geety 12/7/2011 11:17:23 AM1
Sport mirrors I want to instll sport mirrors on my 76. I know wher the control cables start and stop, but where are they in between? Arthur Knigge 1/15/2011 2:04:49 PM1
82 torque converter My 82 has developed a shudder at low rpm when it shifts. One mechanic suggested a can of trans x and adjusting the cable to the converter... has this worked for anyone or should I just get her to the tranny shop! Any thoughts on what a converter rebuild or replacement might cost. Steven Linn 1/4/2011 10:02:07 AM1
Interior heat...get pretty warm. I know that these babies run a bit on the warm side, but even with the heater off, should it always be so warm inside the cabin? I put a 160 thermostat in, but I am wondering if the heater cable could be out of adjustment....and if it is...how tough a job is it to re adjust? Also on the outside chance, could it be due to a clogged radiator? If that is the case...would a 2 row sufice, or should I go to a 3 row? Alan Pyatt 10/7/2010 11:33:44 AM5
Tires for 1975 C3 I need new tires for my 1975 C3 Corvette. I was going to just replace them with P225/70R15's that I currently have, but am thinking about going to P255/60R15's on the rear and P245/60R15's on the front. Section width on the 255 is about one inch wider than the current 225's and it looks like they will clear the parking brake cables on the rear. P245's are needed in the front to clear the wheel lips that were shaved on later models to accommodate the 255's. Do I have this right or are there other issues with using 255's on the rear and 245's in the front? Any comments? D 8/25/2010 2:53:28 PM4
1972 Wiper cowling problem My 1972 wiper cowling opens itself but will not close. When I turn on the windshield wipers the cowling opens but will not retract itself. I have been told that the cowling opens by vacuum but retracts by electricity. I have replaced the accuator to no avail. It appears everything is connected but the cowling will not close any suggestions? Jeff Groh 7/5/2010 5:50:44 PM1
1980 T-top door handle On my 80 Vette, the drivers side inside "close door pull strap" separated from the door panel. Is there a way to repair this or do I have to find a whole door panel? Robert Jacobson 2/2/2010 4:00:08 PM1
Really Bad Ground I have a 69 427 tri-power. I just changed the accelerator cable and then had an extremely weak ignition circuit. I installed a new battery...was due anyway and still weak. I have juice to the alternator, horn relay, starter, and terminal relay on the firewall checked with a test light. Is there a ground wire attached to the gas pedal bracket/linkage I did not connect. Thanks for the help. Raymond Robertson 12/13/2009 5:53:13 PM3
'74 rear window leaks I have taken my rear window out of my 1974 coupe. I have the window, the new sealant, and the interior trim. Is there something else to hold the window in place besides just the trim? The trim does not seem push the window very tightly against the seal. Am I missing some parts? Thank you. 1976 Hood Latch Problem! I was having trouble with the hood staying down on the passenger side. I read that to stop this the cross cable or the latches themselves needed adjutment. Well here goes the problem...........I was adjusting the two items and in small increments. It just seemed to not want to grab. THEN...............CLUNK!.......it grabbed. NOW it wont came open. Has anyone out there done this really dumb thing and know how to get it unlatched? If so PLEASE let me know how to fix my fupa with any hood damage. Thanks........Alan from Phillipsburg NJ Alan Pyatt 12/13/2008 5:15:58 PM2
