I am trying to find some more information on how to "repair" my 1990 Airbag System. The "clockspring" and all the necesseary parts, or computer changes, to get the seatbelt light, and inflatable restraint warning message to go out, and obtain a working Airbag System.

The sensor or sensors are the problem. The problem is corrosion between the sensor and the frame rail. Remove the sensor retaining bolts and clean the frame rail and the contact area on the sensor with sand paper. Then coat both surfaces with dielectric grease. You will then need to clear the code in your computer. This will solve your problem. This is a common problem on pre '92 vettes. Also the "90 automatics have a computer gremlin that sometimes sets the seat belt and airbag lights. Clear the code in the computer (mid america sells a code resetting device made specifically for this problem) and see if it reoccurs. If it does, then corrosion is the problem.

The INFL REST and seat belt light stay on in almost all 1990s, eventually. To get them to shut off, you have to replace one or both the sensors on the front frame rails. The Service Manual explains how to read the codes and determine if it is the left or right sensor.
