Best to buy new or recover? My '77 driver's side is in need of repair so trying to make THE decison, over?

My '77 has the same problem. I should say it has had the same problem three times since new. I bought the leather seat reproductions and installed them my self. It's not hard to do. The major Corvette parts suppliers have the covers and the necessary hog ring tool to install the retaining clips. It's not a difficult project for the do-it-yourselfer.
