New Corvette Owner With Configuration Questions
|
Hi, I am new to the forum and look forward to learning - and hopefully sharing - information about Corvettes. My wife recently inherited a 1965 Coupe from her father which has been in her family since the 1970's . It is a 327 model and from what I can tell all numbers match for the car.
We are in the process of understanding details about the car: its configuration when it left the factory, previous owners, etc. The VIN number is: 194375S119154 and the silver tag next to the VIN has the following: STYLE: K4 65 437 TRIM: std BODY: S3419 PAINT: 90000. The numbers on the
engine are: 5119154 and FO5IIHH
I am mainly interested in understanding how the car was equipped when it left the factory and if the side exhaust currently is original or added at some point during the car's life.
Also, is there a way to figure out the chain of ownership of the car, the dealership it was sold at, etc.?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Voltage regulator problem?
|
On my 1967 327/350 I recently upgraded from original points distributor to new direct replacement electronic with matching coil. Alternator is correct brand new 63 amp replacement from Corvette supplier. Now when running, ammeter indicates charging rate pegged at 40+ amps which I'm sure is incorrect. Do I need a specific voltage regulator for the electronic distributor or can the regulator be adjusted accordingly? Voltage regulator is relatively new also but appeared to function normally with the original distributor. Thank you.

1967 coupe-327/300 poor brakes
|
This car is new to me, I purchased it and drove it home from Ohio to VT. The brakes are quite poor, high pedal effort and long stopping distances. The Calipers are from Lonestar Caliper Company and so is the master cylinder. All parts have Stainless steel sleeves. I do not know what Pads are in the calipers. The pedal stays firm but is just doesn't stop well. I bled the master cylinder & I have pressure bled the system and Gravity bled the system with no improvement. I can't get the brakes to lock up on dry ground.

1965 4Speed Transmission Leak
|
My 4 speed transmission is leaking oil between the transmission and the bellhousing. I understand that its probably the shaft seal underneath the input shaft.
Does anyone know how to fix this without pulling the transmission out. I understand it can be done! Andy

Heat insulation for '67 Corvette 427/400 side pipes, etc.
|
I have just wrapped my side pipes in "header wrap" and it has been very effective so far. Does anybody know if this can cause any longterm problems due to keeping the heat in or anything else?
I am also thinking of using some type of "padding" under the carpeting and under the console...any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!!

Clutch pedal shaft
|
Any info or tips on replacing the clutch pedal shaft on my '64.
The replacement part says it is a weld on fix. I removed the clutch pedal but have left the shaft in the brake pedal. Any thing
I need to know or little tricks would be greatly appreciated. I haven"t ordered any parts yet but can see I will need to order
shaft and four bushings, is that all or am I missing something else.
Thanks

C2 suspension
|
I have a '65. I am considering doing a VBP suspension upgrade. I want to improve handling, but ride improvement will be just as important. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has done a suspension upgrade. Did you use VBP or another brand? Was the upgrade worth it, or would it have been better to stay with the stock suspension?

I am restoring a '65 Vette that is missing the VIN plate (plate should be under the glove compartment). Need to find the VIN (on the frame/body) so it can be verified and vehicle registered with the DMV.

Reproduction KO Wheels
|
I am looking to put some everyday driving wheels on my 64. I have found Bolt-On KO reproductions from several people in the $1,800 range. I have also found a much nicer looking repro set on corvetteusa.com for $2900. I have not seen that set sold anywhere else. Does anyone have any experience with these or have recommendations?
